Eleanor and Ailish from the Toodlelou creativity lab visited our classrooms today for an excellent and engaging art lesson that demonstrated the effect pollution is having on our oceans. They offer weekly classes, workshops and birthday parties too, get more info on
We made hedgehogs using clay & gave each one a name. Our hedgehogs needed new homes so we have been very busy. We discussed and planned how we would design these new habitats & the materials we could use. Next, we went out to our school garden and gathered the necessary materials. Then….construction was underway! Finally, we placed our hedgehog in their home:) We have brought our new little friends home to find a safe, warm place for them to go to hibernate for the long winter ahead and look forward to waking them up again in the spring:)
We have been busy learning about all the trees in Ireland. We learned what the difference is between deciduous and evergreen trees. Today we went on a leaf hunt, we gathered lots of leaves from around the school and made some leaf rubbings. Then we used the leaves to make hedgehogs, did you know that hedgehogs are nocturnal and hibernate for winter? When they are scared they curl up into a ball and their spikes stick up!
